Fun with Knitting (and Quilting)

Girl Friday

My next recently finished sweater is another Knitty gem called Girl Friday.

This is another great success. I used the tried and true and well loved by me and many others Cascade 220 yarn in the beautiful Summer Sky colorway. I had originally bought this yarn for some other sweater but thought the color would be great for this sweater.

This was an easy knit, the lace pattern was quickly memorized! I have all the parts done, then it got warm and I put off of sewing it all up.  I did finally put the buttons on but I like the look of it when it's open. It's a great throw on over a tee sweater and dressy enough for work but it also looks great with jeans! As usual more details can be found over onmy Ravelry page.

Mythical Mythos

OK so I just realized that I never posted the details of my sweater finishing frenzy over the summer...so I'll start withMythos.

 First I love this sweater! It's fits great and was a very fun knit.  I didn't want to spend the big bucks on the called for yarn (though I'm sure it's lovely yarn) and I had a blue color I wanted in mind..so I ordered up somebare silk and merino from Knit Picks and then dyed it.

The color came out a bit brighter than I had originally planned but I LOVE it! I get compliments every time I wear it. People never believe me when I tell them that I not only knit the sweater but dyed the yarn myself as well.

If you want more details check it out over here on Ravelry. I am still contemplating knitting this again in a grey color to have a neutral throw over anything sweater. I am still planning on getting myself a nifty shawl pin for when I want to wear it closed.

The Final Four

Wow again I have been a terrible blogger. I swear that I will get on a schedule, then I don't..Oh well. Summer has flown by again, and I start back to work tomorrow. Another exciting year I'm sure!

So in my flurry to finish up some things before I go back to school I bring you  4  sweaters finished in the last few days! The three blue/teal ones were all finish ups. A pretty good way to finish up summer vacation I'd say!

Look at that water it is SO beautiful!

On the other hand this is NOT why purple is my other favorite color! Wow was the main area of this ship purple, and sparkly metallic purple no less! WITH color changing LEDs inside!  I LOVE purple but man this was a bit much purple even for me! But the cruise was still a great time!

Ken and I just got back from a spur of the moment cruise. About two weeks ago we decided to book a short cruise for a quick get away, so we did. I had a voucher from the airline so my flight was free, and Ken's was fairly cheap. Then we got a good deal on a 3 day cruise leaving out of Port Canaveral. Our ship left Thursday and was back in port Sunday morning. We went to Nassau, Bahamas for a day.and had a day at sea. When we got to the airport in Orlando it was only 10 AM and cruise didn't leave till 6, so since we couldn't check our bag, we rented a car, found an outlet mall (yay for Loft outlet), and had a nice lunch. Then we drove back to airport (yay for Sprint Navigation on my phone). Just as we were about to start boarding a huge storm blew through and blew the luggage belt thingy into our plane apparently putting a hole in the side (boo for delays, Yay for knitting to keep me busy) So eventually the airline got another plan and we were on our way several hours late. But we did make it home safe and sound, about 1AM this morning. Luckily I didn't have to work today (boo only a few more weeks off...Yay a few more weeks off) but Ken did..bummer for him. So I'm trying to get laundry done and what not...I still feel a bit like I'm moving on the ship though LOL, hopefully that will clear up before golf league tonight!

Summertime...

Well it seems as if another summer is here! Hooray! Everyone always asks me...what are you going to do this summer? and I always feel a little guilty for saying what-ever I want! My plans are to knit and sew and generally relax and have fun. Any maybe clean my house up a little bit too...

I've got a whole list of knitting and sewing things I want to get done over the next couple months. We'll see how far I get!

I'd say I'm off to a good start. I started this June 1st and cast off last night at knitting. Pam was there with Camera so she captured my happiness!

This is theBroken Rib Tank. It's a free pattern. My friend Jessica from knitting had started hers and I decided it was super cute and well I had some linen cotton yarn from the "Woolapalozza" haul so why not..and once I got rolling well I couldn't stop..and boom 10 days later it's done! I really love how it came out! Very cute and oh so wearable! My only mods were to knit it in the round instead of flat and I also removed one repeat (8 stitches total) from round the top. I didn't want "gape-age" around the arms. Of course there are a few more details over on Ravelry...

Of course I have to throw in the obligatory jumping shot!
