Fun with Knitting (and Quilting)

Um Yeah I am SO on a yarn diet

So today was the Great Lakes Fiber Festival in Wooster, OH...and OMG what fun! This is the 2nd Annual CKW Trip there as a group. There was 11 of us I think...IT was great fun...we wander through and check everything out and go back for good deals...we meet up and spread out..then eat lunch together and knit a bit and go back for more purchases...

Today we added a FABULOUS addition to our trip! Pam and I stopped atCalla Lily Yarn shopbecause we were both looking for cotton blends for summer sweaters and holy cow...they were having a 50% off sale in honor of "Wool-a-palozza" as we've dubbed it...So we texted our pals and they arrived shortly (they were going to skip out!)  Then I bought more a ton more.
 But let me tell you I wish this yarn shop was my LYS (they need to be a bit closer) because the owner and staff were awesome! I'd of bought stuff even if it wasn't on sale! I will be back for SURE!

I think I bought 10 sweaters worth of yarn and a few other odds and ends! So yeah I'm officially on a yarn diet for awhile!
I think Toby is laughing at all I bought!

What an awesome day with awesome friends!!!!! I can hardly wait till next year!

OH yes FIBER is good for you!

So I just got back from the Great Lakes Fiber Festivalin Wooster Ohio. And can I say...SOO much fun? This is my first Fiber fest event and man was I excited!  A bunch of us Cleveland Knits West gals met up there and shopped and knit a little, and spent lots of money on lots of yarn, ate some fries, and had an all around fabulous time! We had such a good time shopping and encouraging each other!

So here's a full picture of my haul!

I got 2 skeins at Creatively Dyed yarns. The colors are so unique and pretty.

I also got 2 skeins of sock yarn and then 5 skeins of worsted weight yarn at KnittingKnotions. I could have bought so much more their her colors were beautiful.

I snatched this skein of sock yarn at Black Locust Farms (and am so glad I know where their shop is now!)

I may have ODed on sock yarn!

I also go these 3 skeins of wool and hemp for $2.50 a piece for a market bag.

Then I got 6 skeins of Lamb's Pride bulky in Avocado. Can you see the subtle variation in it? It's ands so got a great deal on it! (I wanted to get more in other colors but I exercised a WEE bit of self control! LOL Then I also got 6 skeins of I believe it's top of the lamb sport weight (which I will most likely double strand for something) for $4 a skein! Couldn't pass that up.

And there was some Eucalan purchased too, to wash all my new fibery goodness, and a couple cute stitch markers and some yummy smelling hand cream!

I can hardly wait till next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lest I forget hat my parents got me this  for Miley for my b-day (along with some of the cash that funded my day!) That is now wound and ready to be cast on!

Funky Fibers!!!

So Dawn emailed me and wanted me to go with her to Miss Chickpeas Funky Fibers in Hudson, so of course I couldn't not help a friend who needed a fiber fix. The store is very cute and friendly! We both agreed that it looked bigger from the pictures on the website. They have some of the great usual yarn (Cotton Fleece) but also several I'd never seen before, as well as some handspun. I swore to myself that I would be retrained! Yeah, um, not so much! But I could have been worse! I mean they were having their Christmas in July sale and all! So not too much guilt!

I got 5 skeins of Cotton Fleece in this great dark purple (for some sort of long sleeved sweater) then 4 skeins of this purplly blue for who knows what, perhaps a long sleeve Yogini Bolero or some short sleeve Zephyr pattern.(you can never have too much cotton fleece right?) I also got 2 skeins of Hacho sock yarn (Dawn and I got the same colorway- we have very similar tastes in colors!) 2 skeins of Fiesta Baby Boom sock yarn, but I think it will become some sort of lacy scarf, Montego Bay possibly..

We also hit up Chico's where I got 2 skirts , and 3 pairs of dressier flip flops (everything was on sale and then 50% off sale prices!) I figure they will be great for the cruise we are going on in a few weeks!

Then lastly we ate at Aladdin's, which was fabulous! I'm always up for trying something new! All our food was delicious! Thanks Dawn! The whole area down there is really cute lots of neat little shops and restaurants! A very fun place and a very fun day!
