That's awful - flu doesn't sound like something you can die from but I guess with layering on diabetes anything is possible. Sorry to hear that.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, Michelle - my thoughts and prayers are with her, her family and with you and the rest of the school.

so sad. happened here 3 years ago but to the big C. it's amazing how universally sad it can make a community. the kids will always remember so it's good that your school is handling openly. sending prayers...

That is soooo sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. It's good that they provide grief counselors. Kids that young can have a really hard time understanding such a loss. I hope your week gets better.

In 35 years of teaching, sad to say, I have lost too many students.
I remember every face and the will always be in my heart.
I am starting to clean out my classroom for possible retirement this year and found an envelope filled with past students pictures. I brought it home and my daughter started looking through it. She asked me who were the children in one of the pictures and my heart dropped. David had passed 4 years ago of an overdose.
You never get over it!

as you know from my website - I am a school nurse... I have three insulin dependent diabetics in my school and am very involved with their families... I am sooo sad for you. I always say that even in 2008 they still write "Flu" on the death certificate. God Bless her family and may she rest in peace.
