Fun with Knitting (and Quilting)

FO Ingenue

Well it's done! Yay! I'm trilled with how it came out! It was a super fast and easy knit! I really loved the ridge stitch detailing!

Here are the specs:

Pattern: Ingenue by Wendy Bernard (from the Custom Knits book)

Yarn: Sensations Gloriana Yarn from Joanns

Needles Size 9 Knit picks Options (are there any others?)

Size: 41" I did add a couple short rows for the bust (but I don't know that I needed them)

So this yarn was originally for another project but once I swatched I decided that it was perfect for this sweater. Knitting up the yarn wasn't bad seems a little scratchy..it's a wool/bamboo blend. But now that I've washed and blocked it it is very soft and drapey. My row gauge was off some so I knit extra rows every here and there to lengthen the body and sleeves. The sleeves are a wee bit wide but nothing I can't live with!

FO Whoosh slippers!

OK so this was like the fastest project ever! I cast on yesterday afternoon while waiting on hubby to get out of the shower..and today while he was golfing....WHOOSH they're done! I love them! They will keep my tootsies warm this winter! This was such a fun and fast and easy project! Thanks Stacey for directing my attention to it!

So the Specs:

Yarn : Malabrigo Worsted in Azul Profundo 2 skeins (the yarn is held doubled through out)

Needles: 2 size 9 circs 24"

Pattern: Malabrigo Loafers from Coco Knits

This knit was super easy..I did sort of make the top like the penny loafer but I just purled a row instead of making the slit for the penny. I probably could have knit it using about 21 stitches instead of the 24 called for on that but I wasn't going to redo it.

I still may knit a 2nd sole to fit inside for a little extra cushion as Stacey recommended but right now they are on my feet, so we'll see. I have plenty of yarn to do so.

I also have the suede soles for them, but I'm thinking about just getting some puff paint to put on the bottom A. because I'm lazy and don't want to sew them on and B. I will probably knit MIL a pair for Christmas and she needs the traction more than me! They feel like they are a little big, but then I don't need them tight like socks. I am debating on trying to felt them a teensy bit to see if that will shrink them a tad...but I'm going to wear them around for awhile first before I decide on that!

FO: Stripey Socks

Well my Toe-Ups are done! Yay I am still enamored with the magic cast on! I'm a total convert! Away these are pretty much plain vanilla socks...I used the magic cast on, knit up, did a short row heel, then knit up the leg, did K2 P2 rib for an inch or so and voila done!

I used size 3 needles (2 circs) The yarn is Paton's Kroy Socks Stripes in Cyan...I got the yarn from JoAnn's using 2 different 40% off coupons so this pair only cost me like $8!

IN other knitting news...Ingenue is coming along

And I started a pair of Coco Knits Malabrigo Loafers. The cold weather has my tootsies cold! Stacey knit these last year and I went and bought the pattern right away...I'm finally getting around to knitting them! I was going to start them earlier but I hadn't found the right color of Malabrigo to match my cozy robe! Now I'm off! I knit the sole today while waiting on hubby this afternoon....So these should go really fast!

My 2 purple projects have been hanging out while I've been monogamous to Inguene!

Fall is here!

Well today is October 1st and fall has arrived! Check out that sky! Those are lake effect clouds! They are the kind that bring snow when it's winter! Today they brought rain! And Cold! It's about 52 out right now. I had to put on jeans today, and dare I say real shoes!? So sad for me! I've been in sandals since April! My house was 64 when I got home from work today and I've reluctantly turned on the furnace for the first time (though I plan on turning it off again once things in here have warmed up a bit). I'm not one of those people who loves fall. I mean I do marvel at the beauty of the leaves, and the smells of the cooler weather. But I am so sad to see them go! I'm sad to pull out the coats and jackets again...socks and shoes...I love the freedom of the warmer weather..toss on some flip flops and off I go! (and yet I wonder I resist hubbies urge to move south!)  I won't lie and say that I'm not excited to pull out my hand knits-sweaters and socks, and slip them on...I am...but I'll miss the warm days of summer. Well I guess I'll go make myself a hot cup of tea (with the yummy Chai recipe I got from KnittingNurses blog last year) and slip into some hand knit socks and knit...(I wish I had a fireplace on days like this!)
